Hello students! When I recently browsed through several different books about famous magical personalities, I came up with a wonderful idea. In the magical world there are many heroic witches and wizards and you have heard of many. I wonder how the future of magical society sees these historical personalities and whether there are even clear favourites here!

So, this week’s theme is Heroes of the magical society !

Do your best portrayal of your very own wizarding world hero! And remember - not all heroes fought in battles!

Rules for this challenge: 1.) Please include a small paragraph where you explain why you chose this witch or wizard. 2.) Bonus points may be awarded to particularly creative entries! 3.) Make a new HA! No recycling allowed. 4.) Only canon (eg. existing) characters.

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

This challenge will end July 3rd at 11:59pm.

Note: Please remember to include your house with your HA to receive points!

One of my favorite witches, and personal heroes, is Mirabella Plunkett. Very little is actually known about her early life, but she is most famous for falling in love with a Merman while vacationing at Loch Lomond. They decided to marry, but was denied and rejected by her parents. She turned herself into a fish and swam away. It's unsure if she and the Merman stayed together, but I believe they did. I find Mirabella inspiring since she didn't let anything come between her love, but also took a brave step for others who now have the chance to fall in love with non-humans.

My chosen hero is Cassandra Vablatsky. She always fought her whole life for credibility, and that all started when a frustrated male couldn't hear a "no". Cassandra's powers are great, its easy to see in your history - she pulled along with all the difficulties in her not so ordinary life and made history. Her determination, fiber, powers and strength are memorable and are a example to be followed.

I've chosen Ingatia Wildsmith. I first learned of her while I was eating a chocolate frog on the train to my first year at Hogwarts. The card I got had her on it and I first noticed she was a Ravenclaw, like I hoped to become. I thought it was so cool that she'd invented Floo Powder. She lived to be 93 years old, too. Maybe I'll get to be around that long and maybe I'll get to be as well known as her for something just as useful!

During the Middle Ages, Wendelin the Weird would put on a disguise and use a flame-freezing charm before allowing herself to get caught and burned at the steak. This happened forty-seven reported times, sacrificing herself so others could go free. Her enthusiasm for mischief seriously appeals to me. Interesting how her trouble making revolved around actually being caught. Whenever I... Whenever my friends mess around they try and never give themselves away.

Outfit Not Found Dorcus Wellbeloved founder of the society for distressed witches. She helped witches who were emotionally distressed, poor, or otherwise in trouble. Chosen because the helpers are often overlooked and who I want to be, not as a career but as a person.

Private Outfit My hero is Nymphadora Tonks. Tonks was a brave and loyal witch who stood for what she believed in and still manged to have fun and find love during a terrible time. She may have died in the Battle of Hogwarts but her memory lives on through her friends, family, and and popular stories told to new Hufflepuff students as a lesson that not all Hufflepuffs are boring and weak.

Outfit Not Found It may be cheesy since I'm a hufflepuff, but my hero is Helga Hufflepuff. Her values of fairness as a founder made it possible for a muggle-born like me to be a part of this school and refine my magic skills. I'm very appreciative of her and the ideas she brought to the school. I also value being just and loyal, so I wish to continue to be like her.

My hero is no other than the great Newton Artemis Fido "Newt" Scamander! Thanks to his research and knowledge on magical and non magical creatures is that we today can enjoy, understand, learn, and live among these magnificent creatures in the world. He created the Ban on Experimental Breeding and worked extensively with the Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau. Plus he become involved in the hunt for Grindelwald and played an important part on his hunt. The man was so dedicated that through the years kept editing and improving his amazing book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them.

Outfit Not Found Jocunda Sykes was the first witch in history to cross the Atlantic on a broomstick in 1935. The bust of her at the Hogwarts Castle Entrance Hall made me interested in her when I noticed it as a First Year. She is the kind of brave explorer that I admire. Her fearlessness and heroism allowed her to make advancements for wizarding society. Jocunda Sykes is a pioneer and a prime example of witch’s empowerment.

Albus Dumbledore (and his trusted Fawkes), greatest wizard of his time, Hogwarts' Headmaster and sworn enemy of any dark Lords. Also a very complex personality, the very embodiment that nothing is Black or White and what it is to be Human and have responsibilities greater than yourself. People may think whatever they wish about him, he's been one of my heroes and favorite persons since I heard about him. (And we are still in June so...)

Private Outfit I chose auror Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. He gave his life in the fight against Voldemort and was an integral part of his downfall. He also risked his life to save and assist Harry Potter several times. He is a hero to the wizarding world because of not only that, but his numerous other auror accomplishments within the ministry. This includes fighting in both the wars against Voldemort, "filling half the cells in Azkaban," and capturing many death eaters including Igor Karkaroff.

One of the witches I most admire is Dilys Derwent. Not only was she one of our most popular Heads of Hogwarts, but she was one of the most adept Healers at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. Even after her death she still remains loyal to the care of those within the walls of Hogwarts. Her portrait hangs in the Headmistresses office and in the main admitting area for St. Mungo’s. She's been known to be a reliable source to Heads in the past by providing information on patients when needed.

My hero witch is Perpetua Fancourt. She was a great red-haired wizarding inventor and was sorted into Ravenclaw when attending Hogwards. She reached the serene age of 91 and was a well known astronomer who invented the lunascope, an astronomical instrument for analyzing the phases of the moon.

She was always seen with her very old black tomcat Primsiple (nobody knows how old he really was and rumor has it that he was of the same age than Perpetua!) who went along with her day and night and it seemed like the shared a telepathic bond.

The AMFW (Association of Moon Fanatic Wizards) elected her to be chairwoman on her 50th birthday and this honor came with a beautiful handcrafted moon wand which is linked to many powerful spells only achievable with this special wand.

I choose Perpetua as an inspiring example for us Ravenclaws because she was a brilliant and beautiful witch who created something full of power, meaning and existance. I want to achieve something similar in the Care for Magical Creatures sector. And I also chose her because she was acoompied by a cat. They are the best judges when it comes to character.

Aria Quin-Lee -- Gryffindor I am sure this is totally over-done and not clever at all but who can be more heroic and more tragic than Professor Snape? At the same time who can be more heroic and more tragic than Dobby the house elf? These notable figures are in their own way heroic and extremely courageous. But what about the invisible heroes, without which there would be a huge chunk of wizarding history broken or missing? The heroes that nobody notices or sees, the ones that fly so far under the radar that nobody even pays attention to them. I chose to honor the heroes that become forgotten almost before they were remembered - parents. In this case I decided to feature Lily Potter.
